Management Trainee
Position Summary
General position responsibilities will include working in a variety of Service Center management/supervisory positions over the course of the first 12-24 months to learn Vantage Foods' case-ready meats business. Specifically, during this period the Management Trainee will work with other members of the management team to fully understand the Production Supervisor and/or Service Center Coordinator/Scheduler roles.
Responsibilities
Within the first 12-24 months, the Management Trainee will focus on learning the following assignments:
Production Supervisor Position:
- Supervises and trains hourly staff on operating processes and in the operation of company production equipment
- Facilitates achievement of Company objectives in terms of food safety, product quality, efficiency targets, and customer service
- Ensures regular maintenance of equipment
- Ensures compliance to Workplace Safety & Health legislation
- Enforces HACCP procedures and is committed to food safety
- Committed to continuous process improvement, encouraging team-based CI processes and initiatives
- Tracks and monitors hourly staff attendance and performance on both an individual and team basis
- Provides a safe working environment for all employees
- Sets an example and provides leadership by instilling company goals and objectives
- Ensures compliance with Company Policies and all relevant regulatory and legislative requirements
Scheduler/Service Center Coordinator Position:
- Responsible for production scheduling process in coordination with the Production Manager, including issuing purchasing order release for items required to support production and supplier on-time delivery
- Responsible for the procurement, storage, and movement of raw materials under HACCP guidelines and customer specifications
- Responsible for purchase of all dry supplies
- Preparing purchase orders and negotiating alliances with suppliers, and maintaining procurement records
- Managing the supply of raw material for production staff's requirements
- Supervising the shipping/receiving group to ensure:
o Manpower requirements are planned in accordance with production needs
o Delivery of finished product is managed in an efficient and timely manner
o Raw material cooler, finished goods and dry goods inventories are effectively managed
Qualifications
The Management Trainee will likely have a college/university education, supplemented by experience within a meat processing working environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be possible. Experience supervising an hourly operating workforce is an asset. The successful candidate will possess the individual initiative to quickly learn the Vantage Foods' case-ready meats processing business and will be able to directly supervise operating employees within a team-based work environment.
