Canada Safeway
Safeway Inc. is one of the largest food and drug retailers in North America, operating over 1702 stores across the United States and Western Canada. These include 329 Vons stores in Southern California and Nevada, 132 Randalls and Tom Thumb stores in Texas, 42 Genuardi’s stores in the Philadelphia area, as well as Carrs stores in Alaska.
Canada Safeway Limited is one of ten divisions within the parent company, overseeing operations of 215 retail outlets across Western Canada. Vantage Foods Inc. operates a dedicated state-of-the-art case-ready Customer Service Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba that provides a complete range of fresh, case-ready red meat products (including ground beef and sausage) for Canada Safeway stores in Western Canada.
In partnership with Canada Safeway, Vantage Foods Inc. has designed a one-of-a-kind, highly automated, case-ready facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba to deliver best-in-class food safety, premium product quality, and just-in-time delivery.
Alex Lee
Alex Lee is a holding company for three southeastern food/warehousing companies, including Merchants Distributors, Inc. (MDI), a wholesale food and merchandise distributor; Lowes Food Stores, Inc.; Institution Food House Inc., a public warehousing company.
Lowes Foods began in 1954 as a single store in Wilkesboro, North Carolina and has since grown into a major supermarket chain with 109 stores in North and South Carolina and Virginia. The company has a strong customer service orientation – a reflection of the Alex Lee philosophy that places high value on treating customers, suppliers, and employees fairly.
Institution Food House (IFH) is one the 13 largest food service distributors in the US with over 6,000 customers representing fine-dining, casual, and quick serve restaurants, hotels, schools, and health care providers. As an Alex Lee Company, IFH emphasizes superior customer service and value-added programs, including custom-designed menus and meal planning with registered dieticians.
Vantage's Customer Service Center in Lenoir, North Carolina services the Alex Lee Corp., which includes a full fresh meats program for 109 Lowes Food Stores, a fresh steak program for IFH, and a variety of fresh meats for MDI, a wholesale grocery distributor.
